Safeguarding and Emergency Guidance

How Kindred Compass signposts serious situations — written for the people who use the app and the professionals who support them.

Immediate danger

Call 999 if someone is in immediate danger or needs urgent emergency help.

 Call 999

Urgent medical help

Use NHS 111 for urgent medical help when it is not a 999 emergency. Contact a GP for non-emergency medical advice.

 Call NHS 111

Scam or fraud concern

If money has been taken or bank details have been shared, contact the bank immediately using the number on the back of the card or the bank’s official website. Report fraud to Report Fraud (formerly Action Fraud) on 0300 123 2040 or at actionfraud.police.uk.

 Call Report Fraud

Abuse, neglect or exploitation

Contact the local council’s safeguarding team if there are concerns about abuse, neglect, coercion, exploitation, or someone being unable to keep themselves safe. The Hourglass helpline for older people (0808 808 8141) is free and confidential.

 Call Hourglass

Housing emergency

Contact the housing provider or the local council’s emergency housing service.

Mental health crisis

If someone is at immediate risk of harm, call 999. For urgent mental health support, use NHS 111 or local crisis services. Samaritans listen free on 116 123, any hour.

Our boundary

Kindred Compass can provide general guidance and signposting, but it does not replace emergency services, medical professionals, safeguarding teams, police, legal advice, or regulated financial advice.

In the app itself, the same guidance appears where it’s needed: the header’s “Urgent help” button, the Guide Finder’s safety responses, and the Scam Checker.
