Why I built it

In October 2024, my mum died. She had Alzheimer’s.

Before that, I watched her try to use technology, and it was painful. Not because she couldn’t figure things out — she was sharp, curious, willing to learn. It was painful because nothing was built for her. Everything was built for people like me.

I couldn’t build this in time for her. So it’s here for someone else’s mum — somewhere calm, in plain English, that assumes you’re capable and gives you one clear step at a time.

The people technology ignores are also the people criminals target hardest, which is why scam protection runs through every corner of this site.

Why it’s free

If you’re wondering what the catch is — good. That instinct is exactly what this site tries to strengthen, so it would be odd of me to complain about it.

There isn’t one. No adverts. Nothing for sale. Nothing you type is collected, shared or sold — it stays on your own device, and I never see it. I pay for the site myself because I wanted it to exist. That’s the whole business model.

One person, so one person answers

Larger services have teams, ticket numbers and hold music. Here, if something is wrong, confusing or unkind, the email comes straight to me — the person who made every page — and I put it right.

That’s the honest trade. I can’t offer the polish of a big company. I can offer you someone answerable by name.

The professional bit

Looking after people’s information properly is what I do for a living, and I’ve built this site to the same standard. The Privacy Policy explains, in plain English, exactly what it does and doesn’t do. The short version: what you save stays on your device.
