How to use the NHS App safely

The NHS App lets you order repeat prescriptions, see appointments, and view health information.

  1. Download it only from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android) — search “NHS App”, made by the NHS.
  2. Setting it up asks you to prove who you are. It’s fine to do this step with someone you trust beside you.
  3. Once set up, the app opens with your fingerprint, face, or a code.
  4. Common uses: order a repeat prescription, check appointments, view your GP record.
  5. The NHS will never text or email asking for your bank details. Ignore any message that does.
  6. If the app confuses you, your GP surgery’s reception can still do everything the old way — the app is a convenience, not a requirement.

Take it one screen at a time. You cannot break anything by looking.
