Guide Finder

Hello. Tell me what you’re trying to do, in your own words, and I’ll find you the clearest step-by-step guide I have. Here’s what I found.

Explain smartphones simply

Happily. A smartphone is really just a small computer that also makes phone calls.

Everything on it works through apps — an app is simply a button on the screen that opens one tool, like the camera or your messages.

The basics, one at a time

  1. The Home screen is your starting point. You can always get back to it with the home button or by swiping up from the bottom.
  2. Tap an app once, gently, to open it. There’s no need to press hard.
  3. If something unexpected happens, going back to the Home screen is always safe. You can’t break the phone by tapping the wrong thing.
  4. The Settings app (a gear symbol ⚙️) is where you make text bigger, turn the volume up, and connect to the internet.
  5. Try one new thing at a time. One small win a day adds up quickly.

Everyone learns this at their own pace, and every confident phone user started exactly where you are. Our Technology Help page has step-by-step guides when you want them.

Ask in your own words

For now, I answer by matching your words to my written guides. A fuller companion that can chat freely — and listen and speak aloud — is coming in a future version.
